Chapter 2: P7

Ask Trove: Styling Your Coffee Table

Simplistic, practical, quirky, or classic- when it comes to styling your coffee table, the options are endless! Regardless of the shape and size of your table, we have some easy tips to help you get started and create a display you love. Here we started with the blank slate of this teak root coffee table which has tons of texture and personality! Follow along with us as our styling guru, Elaine, shows us some of her tricks to pulling together the perfect table!

For this first design we kept it simple and clean with items that are just as pretty as they are useful. Elaine chose a few coffee table books in muted tones to stack for depth and placed the larger white books on the bottom which allows the finishing touches to pop. A striking black and cream tribal ceramic filled with springy faux eucalyptus adds lots of height and texture. This marble tic-tac-toe board is a beautiful display piece that you don't have to hide in a drawer until game night! A scented hobnail candle and a stack of slate coasters finishes this simplistic and functional design.

If your space is larger and more grand, try a design with a little more impact! Elaine started with a wooden tray that pulls out the darker tones in the teak root and creates a contained space for florals and other design elements.

She added a base of creamy white faux spring buds and berries to add texture and let the stems hang over the edges on either side to add dimension and flow.

Layering different sizes and colors of wicker and wood spheres creates a textured tone-on-tone look that Elaine finishes with a few glossy globes.

The third look that Elaine created is bright, springy and fun! She started with this vintage Turkish dough bowl accented with hammered copper to mirror the warmth and character of the coffee table.

A little green grounds her design and brings freshness. Elaine added some playful tangerine floral sprays that add a whimsical touch we absolutely love! After filling the centerpiece with textured natural elements, she chose to finish the look with a colorful stack of books and bronze and glass storage jars that can easily be filled with different items to quickly switch up your look.

A centerpiece find like this dough bowl can be used on its own for a more simplistic look, or layered with your favorite accessories to add even more personality.

The biggest thing we've learned with styling is that you can't go wrong if you choose pieces that you love! Don't be afraid to mix it up and try something different to change up your space. Whether you're looking for the perfect coffee table to fit your home or want to freshen up an existing look with some new accessories, stop into Trove and we can help you pull it all together!

Happy Styling!
