Chapter 2: P3
Trove Table Talk: Meet Our Helpline
Collected, laid back, and effortlessly stylish aren't just adjectives we'd use to describe this cozy Harrison West home- they also perfectly encapsulate the sweet demeanor of our Operations Manager, Natalie. We were lucky enough to gain Natalie as a member of our Trove team in the spring of 2014 and we couldn't imagine the store without her!
Before we take you on a tour of her gorgeous place and tell you a little more about her, we can't ignore the second star of the show- Natalie's dachshund Penelope! Nat may say she ordered the custom Riva pouf for herself, but Penel has definitely made this piece her own!
Natalie's home reflects her clean and contemporary style, softened by warm rustic touches. She loves playing with textures and layering earthy neutrals to add interest while keeping things simple and cozy. One of her favorite design elements is the beautiful rug in her living room. It pulls together all of the different tones in the space and adds a touch of drama with its unique pattern. She chose the Beckwourth pine coffee table to bring in a natural element and complement the deeper wood tones of her contrasting side tables.
So many of Natalie's pieces were chosen because of their special meaning to her. The San Francisco map that hangs on her living room wall was originally a gift to her fiance Trent when he first moved back to Columbus from California. The "You Make Me Happy" mercantile sign above her television reminds her of the song her Mom used to sing to her every day when she was little.
Gently worn pieces from her Grandfather's printing press grace many corners of Natalie's home and remind her of her closeness with family. This amazing antique apothecary chest sits in her entryway adorned by living green touches that welcome her home each day. Natalie grew up with her younger brother and sister on a quiet street in Bexley and to this day they never miss Sunday dinners together as a family.
When we asked Natalie how she met Trent she thought for a moment and said it feels like he has always been in her life. They were in the same first grade class and Trent says his crush goes all the way back to the third grade (we can't say we blame him!). Trent and his family moved to California when he was fifteen, but he and Natalie reconnected at a friend's wedding and now they're settled in together with just a few short months until they say "I do"!
Natalie has impeccable style and it shines through in the custom Springfield chairs she designed. She chose this particular fabric because it was light and airy with a subtle pattern that feels playful, faintly edgy and tribal. She loves the clean contemporary lines of the small-scale frame which fits perfectly in their apartment nested closely together to save space. Trent's all about the comfort when it comes to choosing pieces for their home and these chairs fit the bill on both accounts!
We love Natalie's choice of accent pillows to add depth and texture to her Hyde slipcovered sofa- and Penelope obviously agrees! Nat majored in communications at Ohio State and worked in the insurance field for a few years before realizing she was missing a creative outlet. She now not only keeps us all organized and makes sure the day to day operations of the store run smoothly, but works with our Trove On The Go designers to help them pull together the beautiful designs you see on the journal!
There's a reason we call Nat "The Helpline". She seems to always know the answer and is always willing to help when anyone needs her. She says her favorite part about working at Trove is her team members and we have to say the feeling is mutual! If Natalie isn't at Trove, she's probably out taking a walk with Trent and Penelope in Goodale Park or cooking up something delicious and healthy at home- seriously her soups always look amazing!
We just had to capture a photo of the gallery wall Natalie recently created in her bedroom! She incorporated some of her favorite Trove accents like the little wooden Ohio state sign, a few textural metal wall bursts and the sweet darling print she received as an engagement gift.
When they're home in Columbus, Natalie and Trent love to go out for oysters and a glass of wine at The Pearl or grab a slice at Harvest Pizza. One of their favorite things to do is explore new places and they make it a point to check out new hiking spots each time they visit Trent's family in California. Mount Tamalpais across from The Golden Gate Bridge is on the top of their list and they have their sights on Napa and Lake Tahoe for their next trip!
It was so fun to get a glimpse into the home of one of our favorite people and learn a little more about her. Natalie brings a calm cheeriness to Trove each day and we know you all love her just as much as we do!
We're excited to keep learning more about all of our amazing team members and we'll be taking you along with us as we feature each of them here on the journal!
