Chapter 2: P14

Comfortable Coastal Glam

Brenda lives on a quiet street in Linworth Village surrounded by lush, mature trees and the people and things she loves most. She moved into her home exactly a year ago this weekend with her daughter Payton and her two adorable cats, Mar Mar and Pedroia.

Because she works from home and travels often for work, she wanted to create a relaxing retreat that would be welcoming after long travel weeks, but also something she wouldn't tire of seeing everyday. We have loved working with her throughout the process of her home's style refresh and can't wait to show you how it all turned out!

A deep teal, aqua and cream throw that adorns her sofa was the inspiration for the "coastal glam" style she created throughout her home. She and her daughter used to vacation to Martha's Vineyard each summer and she wanted her home to reflect the same laid-back feeling of a cottage on the beach.

She choose accent tables that flow together, but still create contrast with unique materials. The Bellis accent table shines with a Gypsum mineral top and the Mila coffee table adds texture with a layered pine base and thick stone top. A set of Ane nesting tables continues the cohesive look and brings in a glam element.

Custom upholstery can really take a design and elevate it to the next level. Brenda chose to have two Cindy chairs custom wrapped in an aqua and cream linen which speaks to the beachy feel she was looking to create. We love how their rolled arms add a timeless touch.

Rather than adding too much bulk to the living room, she brought in two woven stools in a bleached sand wool for comfortable foot rests that can be easily moved when guests arrive. The Pisa antique brass floor lamp modernizes the look and illuminates her book page when Brenda sits down for a cup of morning coffee.

Brenda kept consistency with the tones in her space by choosing two mirrored "Reflecting Pool" canvas art pieces. Adding art above your mantle draws your eye vertically and gives the illusion of an even larger and more open space.

The entire space is pulled together by a 9x13 hand-loomed wool rug that ties in all of the cool shades Brenda loves.

Walking into the open kitchen space, four Rum Runner counter stools steal your attention. Their exposed frame backs bring a lightly rustic element which plays beautifully with the traditional warm wood of the counter island and the classic white cabinetry.

Brenda recently updated her kitchen and added this amazing granite countertop in swirling tones of sand and tidal pool blue. Isn't it such a calming element in her space?

Playing the piano is one of Brenda's favorite stress relievers and her baby grand acts as the centerpiece for the space off the kitchen. Her style leans toward traditional and she loved working with Andrea and other members of the Trove team to expand her "style horizons".

Andrea encouraged her to try mixing in some pieces that were a bit more modern and edgy like the Mystic glass chandelier that glows with warmth above the piano. Brenda says she would have never chosen this piece without Andrea's vision and it's now one of her favorites!

The coastal vibe of Brenda's home extends to her back patio with the Carla outdoor sectional. She chose to have it upholstered in this Spinnaker Salt Sunbrella fabric that's a washable slipcover for easy cleaning.

If you have a vision to bring a fresh style to your home, stop into Trove and we can help you bring it to life! Whether your vibe is warm and traditional or light, airy and calming like Brenda's home, there's a collection of Trove finds that will complement your design perfectly.
