Chapter 2: P10
Trove On The Go: Soft Tones and Natural Elements
Shane and Karen's home sits on 18 acres of quiet land in Canal Winchester, OH, where a serene pond trickles just outside their front door. They began their Trove On The Go project with the main living area and worked from there to create room after room of beautifully designed and functional spaces.
The Cromwell pine and stone sideboard greets you as you walk in and sets the tone for a home that effortlessly combines natural elements with lots of texture and pattern. Custom drapes soften the crisp molding that wraps around their high ceilings and pulls together the tones throughout their home.
Karen and her husband wanted to keep the feel of their home clean and simple, and with two children and a dog (keep reading to meet Zoe!) durability and comfort was also at the top of their list. The first piece they decided upon was the Sophie sectional in a light, neutral fabric to help delineate the open living space. Its classic lines create a timeless piece that adds plenty of comfortable seating for the entire family.
We love how Karen and her designer chose to stagger two of the Fischer bunching tables for an unexpected touch. They add the perfect visual weight to anchor the room topped with chiseled blue stone slabs. Two of the Cordova leather wing back chairs flank the fireplace and the grandly scaled Encircle floor mirror reflects light throughout the room to lend airiness.
Two of the Fuller swivel club chairs wrapped in a herringbone silhouette fabric create additional seating that stands on its own while still coordinating with the rest of the space. That sweet little Kendra side table is actually a nightstand, making it the perfect size to sit between the swivels and complete the seating area. A woven iron basket hands on the wall to add a unique and textural finishing touch.
We couldn't walk through Karen's kitchen without taking a moment to swoon over the Nice destroyed leather counter stools from Trove Editions that surround her kitchen island.
One of Karen's favorite areas of her home is their finished basement and we couldn't agree more with how beautifully it turned out! They wanted to create multiple seating areas that could be used for entertaining and their children to enjoy with friends. It had to feel warm and comfortable, but also keep consistent with the clean-lined style they love throughout the rest of their home.
The Simone bistro table is the centerpiece for a fun little dining area. Its classic tulip shape in textured cast aluminum brings coolness and a vintage industrial touch. Two stonewashed Cove dining chairs offset a sleek armless dining bench to complete this comfy seating area. Four Kelsie swivel stools with reclaimed wood tops are ready for guests to enjoy a drink by the bar!
Their main entertaining area is perfect for big bowls of popcorn and Saturday night movie watching. They chose to have the Brennan sectional custom upholstered in an easygoing grey fabric and brought it to life with patterned and textured accent pillows in hues of mustard and charcoal. A lightly shaggy rug with a funky abstract pattern pulls in softness.
Four leather club chairs turn this little nook into a cozy spot to sit down with friends for a game a euchre and a cold drink on a weekend night.
Two Naples top grain leather swivel chairs finish off this living space, centered by the Pierce coconut stem end table. They tucked one of the Rowan nesting tables into the end of their sectional to add the perfect little spot to rest your popcorn and a drink during movie night!
We absolutely loved touring Karen and Shane's home and seeing how they partnered with their designer to create a home that works perfectly for their family. Karen's labradoodle, Zoey, absolutely agrees that their home is exactly how she likes it!
